Hi, my name is Mareike, I am 31 years old, a german artist living in northern Germany. I am a happy wife and mother of one son (nearly 2 years old). My nickname is Gingit which comes from my red hair.
Since I was a child I loved drawing. As far as I can remember I often was sitting at some table, holding my favorite pencils or brushs in my hands, creating some art. Most of the time horses.
In my early twenties I studied geography at the University of Muenster in Germany and the University of Exeter in Great Britain sadly doing literally no art anymore. I traved a lot, had the chance to explore Great Britain and its beautiful nature and met many english and international people from all over the world. It was an adventerous time, quite excausting some times and just at the end I started drawing and painting again because I realised there was a huge part of my passion missing. I successful graduated 2013 with a Bachelor of Science.
But as I said before my truth love is doing art. I always loved creating, especcially drawing portraits and wildlife. I am a quite introvert person, highly creative and sensitive, just love to be by myself and I decided to start my first little art business called „Buntstiftkunst“ (colored pencil art) when I was 26 years old. So far I sold my art in germany. I sold some landscape drawings at the island Spiekeroog and I was doing costom drawings of pets, mainly budgies. At this time I still had to work here and there to pay my fixed costs. My favorite job by the way was a shop assistant in an art store.
When I was 30, I gave birth to my beloved and beautiful son Jamie Phileas and it was such a change for me and my husband. Now he is 20 month old, goes to Kindergarten at the morning and I have time to create more art and invest in my further education.
Today I mainly work in colored pencils, graphite, pastels and a mixted media technique with water color, gouache and colored pencil. I love drawing portraits, especcially babies and children, animals, plants and landscapes.

2012:
Starting drawing portraits and doing a artcourse in portrait drawing at ‚VHS Muenster‘ and painting in acrylics, doing art courses at ‚Kreativhaus‘ in Muenster (Germany) for around 10 month
2013:
Starting drawing in colored pencil, learning by self teaching methods by watching videos by LachriFineArt and Jason Morgan Wildlife Art
2014:
I am creating my first Art Business ‚Buntstiftkunst‘ (colored pencil art)
2015:
My first exhibition at the ‚Kuenstlerherberge‘ at Spiekeroog (island northern sea, Germany), I sell my first originals
2016:
I am doing Social Media Marketing (Facebook, Instagram and YouTube) and I am selling my first commissions
I create drawings in the techniques of colored pencils and graphite
2017:
I learn the techniques of pastel and mixed media with water color, guache and colored pencils, I am teaching my self techniques in handlettering and calligraphy
I start a distance learning course in „Basics in advertising design“ at the „Grafikakademie“
2018:
May: Birth of my Son Jamie Phileas
Oktober 2018: I achieve a certificate in „Basics in advertising design“ at the „Grafikakademie“ with a 1.0 (its the best grade :))
2019:
April: I start a second distance learning course at „Fernakademie Klett“ in Social Media Marketing, I hope it will be finished in April 2020!
December: I am opening my second and new art business, called ‚Gingit FineArt‘, because its more international than „Buntstiftkunst“ (colored pencil art) and the name Gingit Fine Art is more about me and my artwork than just about a special technique like colored pencil.
